I, like most other gamers, am sick of seeing endless rumours and speculation citing “anonymous sources” or “insiders” with no evidence, no proof, no guarantee that they’ve been fact-checked or can be relied on.

I doubt most tech blogging (or ANY reporting, frankly) is really much better off. Any industry so tied up in secrets and high-profile, stratospheric-hype releases leads to people acting desperate for scoops and ready to glom onto any hint of a rumor, so they get to be the ones to holler “FIRST!”

Until the news as a whole gets less obsessed with speed being an accomplishment above just about everything else, which honestly isn’t likely to happen anytime soon, I’d say take pretty much everything with ten damn pounds of salt until you can really, seriously cross-reference and verify.
